Dear Alumni and Alumnae of AtSCA,
As some of you already know, our beloved Manang Victoria Desierto from Marytown passed away last Monday, 21st of July 2008.
It had come to us as a great shock since Manang Vic was still working around the month of May, however her health quickly started to fail. What we had thought as goiter, turned out to be tumor, a cancer that quickly spread throughout her body. When our fellow alumnus Caloy Prado visited a week ago, he had found her already bedridden, and could hardly speak and eat. Manang Vic was supposed to have an operation this August to take out her tumor, however, perhaps because of her weakened state she was rushed to the hospital last Monday. At around 7 in the evening, our Manang Vic passed away.
Manang Victoria has been a kind of icon to us AtSCAns especially us Marytowners. We have gotten to know her and her family well. Most of all, she had invited us not only into her home but into her life.
Manang Vic left behind eight children (Apple, Dobek, Bona, Drilon, Joco, Aliana, Martie and Bryle), six of which are still minors, while the two oldest have stopped school and have unstable employment. Her husband, Kuya Dong, had suffered a stroke some years back and is no longer able to work.
We are writing this letter in behalf of the family that Manang Vic left behind. As of the moment they have no stable source of income and are still settling expenses incurred from the hospital, the wake and burial. The wake is being held at the Marytown Chapel and burial will be this Sunday, 27th of July. Some of us alumni are arranging for a visit this weekend and we are urging you to join us. Moreover, for those who may not be able to visit but would like to help financially, we are temporarily going to use Caloy Prado’s Metrobank savings account to pool funds for the family’s immediate needs.
For your donations, please deposit to:
Metrobank Savings Account Number: 0933093197535
Account Holder: Carlos Manuel S. Prado
Note: The purpose of this account and your deposits will be for the “abuloy” of those who could not personally visit the family and will also go to the expenses abovementioned. We will entrust the funds to the decision-maker of the family. Please also note that this DOES NOT translate into an Endowment Fund that some of the alumni previously discussed. Moreover, please DO NOT make a deposit after August 8, 2008, again, the account is only being temporarily used for the abovementioned purpose.
I’m sure the family will be very thankful for any help you will give. Please also forward to those who want to help, especially Marytowners.
Thank you brothers and sisters, you can contact me for the meet-up on Saturday. I’ll be visiting after lunch.

I got a new guitar (well I actually bought it a month ago). I named it Marcos, from our late President. Seems relevant to name it that at the moment since we have the same sickness.
Nakisawsaw ako sa date ni Luis at Jay. Hahaha.. Basta, si Luis ang may kasalanan!!! (di nag-invite, pumasok sa planet sports, lahat na..) Anyway, sayang wala si Lucille, wala akong kakampi. Umuulan ng testosterone kapag magkasama si Luis at Jay. Patay patay. But our pictures are SUPER CUTE tho. Hahaha.. ^_^
My friends Marga and Hanah were the ones who introduced me to Paul & Joe. Later on, I found the product line popular in Preview magazine and it made me wonder why. So when I finally decided to update my make-up kit, I went on and purchased Paul & Joe's base set. First on the left is a UV protective foundation primer with SPF 40. This product came out in time for summer, but I bought it because my sickness makes me photosensitive and the doctor prescribed nothing less than SPF 30 sunscreen during the times I go out in the sun. The product still smells like your regular sunscreen, but when you put it on it feels way lighter and non-greasy.
Second is the liquid foundation. I don't usually use the liquid foundation for full coverage of my face, rather, because it matches my skin tone very well, I just apply it in areas with uneven color--dark spots, under the eyes and eye lids (if I'm putting on eye shadow). Compared to Loreal's Air Wear which is what I used to use, this foundation is very light on the skin and blends really well, plus it has SPF 25.
Last is the dual powder foundation. I used to really hate compacts because I have a Mary Kay product that was way too creamy and thick to use on the face that it ended up as my scar concealer. Nevertheless, Paul & Joe's dual powder foundation is a keeper! It's called "DUAL" because you could use it as a powder (I use a powder brush instead of the sponge) and as a creamy foundation, just add water. The finish is very light and it mixes well with my skin.
These products might cost a little more than your normal cosmetic products but I could attest that in this case quality comes well with the price.
You can find Paul & Joe products in Rustans, Glorietta, Makati.

This movie should have had more praise than what it got. Brilliant lines, music by Hans Zimmer. I will not grow tired of this one.
